Thousands Flee Santorini Following Series of Earthquakes

Thousands of people flee Santorini during earthquakes.
Over 300 earthquakes have been reported near Santorini in the last 48 hours, pushing hundreds of residents to leave their homes. The roughly 9,000 people who have left since Sunday are being taken to the mainland using emergency aircraft and boats.

A magnitude 5 earthquake that occurred Tuesday raised fears of more shocks. Even though no serious damage has been found, authorities have closed schools and warned locals not to congregate inside.

Experts predict more earthquakes, so authorities are preparing emergency plans and shelters. Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has urged for calm while monitoring the situation.
