Islamabad: Shafqat Ali Khan, spokesman for the Foreign Office, voiced grave concerns over the cutting-edge weapons that American forces left behind in Afghanistan, saying that they now pose a threat to Pakistan’s and its people’s security.
When the military departed Afghanistan in August 2021, a significant amount of contemporary weaponry and military hardware was left behind. These supplies are currently being used by a number of terrorist organizations, such as the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), to conduct operations in Pakistan.”These weapons in Afghanistan are a problem for both Pakistan and regional stability,” Shafqat Ali Khan went on.
He pointed out that attacks along Pakistan’s borders have increased as a result of terrorist groups’ operations becoming more lethal due to the availability of sophisticated U.S. weapons.Pakistan has repeatedly called on the Kabul interim government to act swiftly and decisively to stop terrorist groups from acquiring these weapons, the Foreign Office spokesperson explained.
