Ghotki: Police and Rangers Abort Attempt to Take Crew and Freight Container

In the Katcha district of Ghotki, Sindh Rangers and police worked together to stop robbers from hijacking a freight container and kidnapping its crew. An exchange of gunfire occurred during the operation, injuring the container driver slightly but allowing the criminals to flee.

Security forces have been carrying out operations against criminal elements that hide in Sindh’s interior, according to Dawn News. Bandits tried to intercept a freight container using the Bachu Bund route on the M-5 Motorway close to Ronti Nek Mor. Intelligence sources notified Pakistan Rangers Sindh of a planned large-scale robbery involving seven to eight armed persons.

After the robbers halted the container and attempted to kidnap the crew, patrolling squads of Rangers and police quickly arrived at the site. The armed men injured the driver when they opened fire upon spotting the security personnel. Law authorities’ prompt response forced the attackers to flee, leaving the container and its crew behind.

A Sindh Rangers spokeswoman reported that they administered first aid to the injured driver and other crew members before transporting them to a local hospital. In order to aid in the prosecution of fugitives, he asked the public to provide any information regarding criminal elements and those providing them with refuge.

The statement further underlined that police and Sindh Rangers will continue to work together in the Katcha region to protect highway traffic and commercial convoys.
