The Pakistani government imposed significant taxes, tariffs, and fees on petroleum products; petrol now costs Rs. 107.12 per litre, while high-speed diesel costs Rs. 104.59. Official documents state that these expenses consist of commercial margins, taxes, tariffs, and dealer commissions.
At Rs. 70 a liter, the petroleum duty is currently the highest in the history of the country. Additionally, there are customs fees of Rs. 15.78 for petrol and Rs. 15.28 for gasoline. Dealers get Rs. 8.64 per liter, while oil marketing companies get Rs. 7.87.
Exorbitant surcharges raise fuel prices despite the lack of a sales tax, further taxing people’s budgets. The public is urging the government to reduce taxes and levies in order to assist.
