On Muzaffargarh Road in Multan, close to Fahad Town, a gas-filled bowser burst, killing six persons and injuring 39 more. The explosion caused a number of homes to catch fire, leading to their destruction. After midnight, the tragedy happened, leaving the region in ruins.
When the explosion happened, the driver had stopped the bowser on the side of the road and gone to meet with family, according to Dawn News reports. A gas leak caused the explosion, which resulted in the bowser’s pieces falling on neighboring houses. As a result, some roofs collapsed, and the houses caught fire.
After arriving on the scene, rescue crews moved the bodies and injured to Nishtar Hospital’s burns unit. A mom and kid from one household were among the injured. While over 100 people were pulled alive from the wreckage, rescue workers said that 12 of the injured were in critical condition. Additionally, the blast killed or injured a large number of animals.
Six members of the same family in Basti Hameedpur were hurt in the explosion: Allah Rakha, his wife Tania, his mother Mansab Bibi, and their three children, Anam, Anaya, and Sanwal. One of the women, Zarina Bibi, died. The explosion injured most of the 15 to 16 people who were refilling LPG gas from the tank.
According to CPD Multan Sadiq Ali Dogar, the rescue crews cleared the area after containing the fire. To guarantee complete cleanliness and security, he added, personnel would stay in the area.
A police official immediately reported six deaths and 39 injuries. Eight known and seven unknown people are the targets of a complaint filed at the Muzaffarabad Police Station in connection with the explosion, which is still being investigated. Police have started additional legal proceedings after apprehending two individuals.
A fire that ignited during the gas refill appears to have caused the explosion. The perpetrators of the incident left the scene without telling anyone. To find out what caused the event and hold those involved accountable, the police and authorities are both undertaking a comprehensive investigation.
